Full Description: La Romana is situated in the foothills of the Sierra del Redciot only a few km from Alguena. It has been called the village of pine trees, marble and excellent wine and it has a population of around 2000. The village is surrounded by lovely countryside with vineyards and almond orchards. In September Paella in the Park is held when a giant paella pot is set up outside and the locals take part in the fiesta. The area is popular for all Nationalities including of course a lot of British families looking for a quiet, rural home. The village has a school, doctor, 2 small supermarkets, 3 bakers, 3 butchers, 3 bars, a large furniture store and a street market on Saturday mornings. There is a communal swimming pool open in the Summer months. The nearest golf course is Alenda which is about a 20 min drive away with Alicante airport about 40km away. The nearest beaches are in Alicante City.
